Work on Atomic Heart resumes, the team has left Russia

Atomic Heart, the first person shooter with RPG elements and set in the Soviet Union in an alternate future, has once again been put into production. The news comes from the ACG podcast, which revealed some details about Mundfish, the developer behind the game, and his current situation at work.

As revealed by ACG, Mundfish resumed development after a few weeks of hiatus. However, this was interrupted by the war in Ukraine, which forced the development team, which was in Moscow, to leave the country. We do not know what problems Mundfish had encountered in Russia, but it is very likely that they concern the sanctions imposed by the Westwhich in some cases prevent the correct supply of materials and do not even allow the receipt or disbursement of payments due to the blocking of the SWIFT circuit, which regulates bank transfers.

Beyond the Mundfish relocation, However, Atomic Heart remains devoid of any release date. The developers recently released a new image, with some development numbers. The game has been in the works since 2017, it required 120 developers and the team, to date, has worked on it for over 630,000 hours. Numbers of some importance, but considering the project (decidedly ambitious) and the few availability in terms of employees, make us think that the title may still be very far from its final release.

Atomic Heart will be launched soon. The game is expected on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 but it’s not the only game that risks being postponed further. In all likelihood, STALKER 2 will also fail to debut by 2022, again due to the war in Ukraine.
