GM revealed which are Chevrolet’s 100% electric vehicles for South America

Electric cars continue to gain ground in the regional market. General Motors is committed to electrification with its line of zero emission vehicles, which will complement the current portfolio of Chevy for South America.

The electric vehicles chosen by Chevy for the SUV segment they are the Bolt EUV, Blazer EV and Equinox EV. Each model has its own proposal and characteristics to meet the different consumer profiles.

The announcement was made by Santiago Chamorro, President of GM South America, and Marina Willisch, Vice President of Communications, Government Relations and ESG of GM South America. Both executives also shared details about the arrival schedule of these future products and highlighted the offensive that the company will promote in relation to electrification, which began in 2019 in South America with the marketing of the Bolt EV in Brazil.

The next model to arrive in the region will be the Bolt EUV, which debuts in Colombia in the second half of this year. Then we plan to offer other global models of the brand for the region, such as the Blazer EV and Equinox EV, which are still under development in the US, said Chamorro.

It should be noted that this series of zero-emission electric vehicles from Chevrolet are now identified differently in the brand’s communications, with the letters EV in the logo highlighted in blue.

Electromobility in Peru

Since 2019, Chevrolet has been carrying out a series of tests in Lima with its 100% electric Bolt model. Some concessionaires are even carrying out studies to define the technology of electrolineras (vehicle charging station) that best suits the Peruvian reality and its operations.

Although the transition to electromobility in Peru could take between three and four years, it could be brought forward depending on the efforts made by the government to start the takeoff of this technology.

GM recently announced a partnership with Honda to develop more accessible electric cars for users in the global market, including South America. This new global family of electric vehicles is expected to hit the market later this decade. The collaboration between the two companies also provides for the possibility of large-scale global production and joint development of batteries.
