YouTuber proves the Galaxy Z Flip 3 can hit 418,500 times before it fails

To really test the durability of the hinges of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, Polish YouTuber, Mrkeybrd, volunteered for a more realistic test of the device. Aptly named, “The Great Folding Test,” the Mrkeybrd reached over 418,500 folds before the phone would open or close.

That number is more than 200,000 times what Samsung promised for its Galaxy Z Flip 3, which MiracleBrad easily surpassed in its human folding test. In testing, the YouTuber also confirmed that the foldable’s touchscreen, speaker, and camera still work after hitting 418,500 folds.

A more realistic fold test – There’s a fair explanation as to why Mrkeybrd sacrificed his time for this man vs. machine challenge. He said Samsung’s estimate of 200,000 flips was obtained through laboratory testing, while real people open and close their foldables very differently. That line of thinking eventually provided us with hours of people folding the Galaxy Z Flip 3.

I looked around for a few minutes during this glorious feat of human perseverance, but I have to admit I couldn’t make out the whole thing. Mykeybrd was joined by a team of people where someone would open and close a Galaxy Z Flip 3 for two hours and then switch it out, only for someone else to start their folding shift. The experiment also included dust and water tests to check the IPX8 rating of the foldable.

As mentioned earlier, the Experiment easily passed the 200,000 mark with some mild fanfare, but the foldable began to struggle around 352,100 times. Still, this milestone is much higher than what Samsung anticipated in their lab conditions.

for the greater good – For some of us, using the Mrkeybrd is nothing more than a quirky idea turned into entertainment, but for Samsung users and foldable enthusiasts alike, testing shows the more realistic durability of Samsung’s hinge design.

All that said, I have to prop up the determination to take on this challenge. I really respect Mykeybrd’s decision to test numbers that often feel like companies are just sputtering. It just so happens that in this case, Samsung’s foldable looks even stronger than the company claims.
