Hyundai Ioniq 5 is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing and appreciated electric proposals on the market today: born on the E-GMP platform developed together with Kia, which uses it for the EV6, the Ioniq 5 today receives its first major software update, which unlocks functionality “Over-the-air” (OTA) which in turn will allow the car’s software to be automatically updated by the parent company.
The process to make the Ioniq 5 compatible with OTA updates is quite simple, although not entirely automatic: the simplest alternative is to go to the dealer trust that it will update the software, otherwise you can download the software version 220211 from the site Hyundai Navigation Updateupload it to a USB pendrive and install it yourself on the car – which is designed to recognize new software on the stick and will install it automatically.
Once this basic system update has been completed, the car will be able to receive OTA updates, a technical aspect that is now fundamental for modern cars, especially electric ones; system updates can in fact significantly improve not only the capabilities of the multimedia systems installed on board, but also those of the car itself, to the point of improving its energy efficiency and consequently its range.
Thanks to this update, the infotainment system of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be able to download and install all released software updates by operating in the background, without the user being asked to stop using the car’s multimedia compartment, nor the navigation compartment which will always be available. Once the update is complete, the system will automatically notify the customer’s Bluelink application.
Hyundai has announced plans to release 2 OTA updates per yearwith the first expected during the upcoming summer.
