Only 10 months laterin June 2022, Miguel Pacheco of Drybook in Gloucestershire found the lost device in the river, while he too was navigating the waterway in a canoe.

Pacheco said he thought the efforts would do no good because the iPhone was “soaked in water“. He still decided to dry it and try turning it back on because he knew it might contain images that were important to the owner. “I know that if I lost my phone, having many photos of my children, I would want them back“, he said.

The man dried the device with an air compressor before putting it to dry in a cupboard. When he put it in charge, the next morning, in the background appeared the image of a man and a woman, in addition to the date of August 13, the day on which the device fell into the water. “I could not believe it, Said Pacheco with satisfaction.
