Windows 11 Build 25145 Released With New Privacy Features



Windows 11 Build 25145 is now available for Insiders continuing testing on the Dev Channel, along with a few new features and bug fixes. With the new build, the integration between OneDrive and Settings goes further. However, Narrator Braille driver support and a new Local Administrator Password Solution have been incorporated into the operating system.

Microsoft is also rolling out an important feature so that every user can protect their privacy. Firstly Build 25140 You can monitor usage history of various functions such as Location, Camera, Microphone, Voice activation, Call log, Messaging, Contacts, Pictures, Videos, Music library and Screenshot.

You can access the 7-day resource access history in Settings > Privacy > App permissions. At this point, simply click on one of the app permissions categories, such as microphone, and look at the “Recent activity” section.

These innovations are currently only available to Dev Channel members. Also, let’s remind you that the updates coming to this Insider channel may work unstable.



What’s New With Windows 11 Build 25145

Microsoft has been putting more emphasis on OneDrive integration lately. It is already possible to configure OneDrive as the default File Explorer folder so you can easily access documents and other files stored in the cloud storage service.

Build 25145 offers a more advanced OneDrive subscription management for the Accounts page in Settings. On the Accounts page, you’ll notice OneDrive subscriptions that allow you to view the current usage of cloud storage, recurring billing, payment method, and more. You’ll also start getting notifications about cloud storage in the Windows Settings app, as OneDrive is deeply integrated into Settings.

There are other improvements to OneDrive for Windows 11. For example, users will be able to add a OneDrive folder directly to File Explorer’s sidebar. Likewise, you can configure OneDrive as the “home page” of File Explorer.

Local Admin Password Remedy

The old Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) is now a native part of Windows and includes many new features.

  • You can extend the Active Directory schema by running the Update-LapsADSchema cmdlet in the new LAPS PowerShell module.
  • You can add the necessary permissions to your computer’s OU (Organizational Unit) by running the Set-LapsADComputerSelfPermission cmdlet.
  • After adding a new LAPS Group Policy object, enable the Configure password backup directory setting and configure it to back up the password to Active Directory.
  • The domain-joined client is processing the policy at the next GPO refresh interval. Run gpupdate /target:computer /force to avoid waiting. (The Invoke-LapsPolicyProcessing cmdlet command can be used for the same purpose.)
  • After the domain-joined client has backed up a new password (look for event 10018 in the event log), run the Get-LapsADPassword cmdlet to retrieve the newly stored password.

Narrator Braille Driver

Microsoft says that with the new drivers, a seamless experience will be offered between Narrator and third-party screen readers, Braille devices will now work better. These screens are used by visually impaired people and they provide ease of use with smart devices.

Improvements

  • When you middle-click a folder in File Explorer, the folder will now open in a new tab.
  • Introduced with Build 25115, Recommended Actions are now available to all Windows Insiders in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

General

  • Fixed a bug that caused Windows Insiders on Surface Pro X devices to encounter a black screen when attempting to resume from hibernation.
  • Fixed a bugcheck where some Insiders were experiencing USB connections with SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.
  • Fixed a bugcheck that caused an occasional 0x1CA SYNTHETIC_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT error on some PCs after being idle for a while. This was happening when a laptop lid was closed.
  • Fixed an issue that caused InventorySvc to consume an unexpectedly high amount of memory while running.

File Explorer

  • Tab order will now be included in the keyboard focus loop when pressing Tab or F6. When the focus is on the row of tabs, you can use the left or right arrow keys to navigate through them.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the tab order to appear incorrectly when using CTRL + Tab if you rearrange the tabs in File Explorer.

start

  • Narrator will now correctly read the dialog and these options that pop up when uninstalling an app from the context menu in Start.
  • Animation should now appear correctly when selecting the More button in the Recommended section of Start in right-to-left languages.

Taskbar

  • When you close the notification center using your keyboard, the closing animation will now show correctly.

Settings

  • Fixed an issue that caused Settings to crash when going to Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Fixed several crashes when opening the Wi-Fi section of Quick Settings or after connecting or disconnecting from networks in the Wi-Fi section of Quick Settings.
  • Fixed an issue where the Wi-Fi option in Quick Settings and the Wi-Fi section in Settings would sometimes take a few seconds to appear.
  • Fixed an issue that caused this section to close unexpectedly when clicking items in Quick Settings while in edit mode.
  • The boxes will no longer appear when typing a number in the Settings search box when using the Arabic display language.

Task Manager

  • It is now possible to navigate pages in the Task Manager with the CTRL + Page Up and CTRL + Page Down keys.

Login

  • Added SOM currency sign (U+20C0) to the Courier New font family.

Other

  • Fixed a rare issue that could cause certain apps to crash occasionally during startup.
