Destiny 2’s Guardian Games will make its third annual return to the Tower on May 3. The competition to see which of the three Guardians class is second and third best (it’s a poorly kept secret that the Titans are clearly first), begins Tuesday and will run until the end of the season, May 24.
As always, players will participate in short quests to earn medals and transform them to raise their class position in the ranks. But this year Bungie is bringing back an oft-requested feature for the duration of the event: strike scoring.
Instead of running through strikes, players will be given special quests to do the most damage, which can kill enemies in unique ways. This feature will appear in two different strike playlists: Training and Competitive. The training playlist will be active from Tuesday to Thursday each week. The rest of the week – Friday through Monday – players can jump into competitive playlists to earn better rewards.
By achieving high scores, players can unlock torches in the tower, which give their guardian a special glow on their right shoulder. Players can get the glow on their left shoulders by turning into medals to help them win their class. To their trouble, players will earn the new “The Title” submachine gun, which comes with a special Genesis perk called the Classy Contender (refunds class ability kills energy).

Bungie is also making minor changes to the weighting of medal deposits for the event – due to the discrepancy in player populations between classes. The squares that fall behind and come in second or third place will receive a multiplier proportional to the remainder of the event. It will also take into account data from the previous season, which means that the Titans (who finished third despite winning last year in 2020) will get the biggest boost. A second-place finish will give the Enchanting little boost, and the Hunters will get little boost since winning in 2021.
Finally, Bungie Announces Some Exciting Booty Luck 2 With the new season on 24th May. The seasonal ritual weapon would be a machine gun called a Chain of Command. Players will be able to earn at least the Pulse Rifle of Horror from Nightfalls, as well as the beloved DFA hand cannon. The trial of Osiris will get a Forgiveness sidearm and a Burden of Gilt Fusion rifle.
But before players can get their hands on those new weapons, they’ll have to work down the gauntlet at the 2022 Guardians Games. May the best in class win.
