Affordable 13th Gen Processor Specs: i7-13700, i5-13500 and i5-13400

As Intel’s 13th Gen Core processors approach, tests and leaks are increasing day by day. Today, we have Raptor Lake chips with the multiplier unlocked and without the “K” suffix on our agenda: Core i7-13700, Core i5-13500 and Core i5-13400.

The Core i7-13700 will be a 65W processor with 16 cores and 24 threads. If we compare with the Core i7-12700, the number of efficiency cores in the new generation is 4 more. The CPU clocked at 2.1 GHz base clock, the upgraded clock speed is still unknown. According to PassMark, the Core i7-13700 delivered up to 3.3% higher single-thread performance than the Core i9-12900K. Compared to the Core i7-12700, the difference is 10.1%.

Two more processors are with us, such as the mid-range Core i5-13500 and Core i5-13400. Unfortunately these chips don’t have any scores for comparison. Both processors will have an additional 8 efficiency cores (E-core). It should be noted that the current Core i5-12500 and Core i5-12400 lack these.

Core i5-13500’s performance cores (P-core) seem to have 500MHz lower base clock speed than Core i5-12500. In addition, the Raptor Lake CPU reached 100 MHz lower boost speeds in tests. In the case of the Core i5-13400, it is stated that the 14-core chip maintains the same clock speed as the Core i5-12400, namely the 2.5 GHz base clock speed. However, Intel apparently lowered the Core i5-13400’s turbo boost frequency by 300 MHz.

We await the Raptor Lake family with Raptor Cove cores, which we can consider as an optimized version of Golden Cove. Gracemont productivity cores remain in place, but the number of E-cores is increasing in almost all models. Raptor Lake also offers larger L2 and L3 cache capacity. According to rumors, the next generation chips will be announced at the Innovation event on September 28.
