Generally we do not usually touch the remote control of our TV when we watch a movie or series, except when we want to modify the volume. However, with the arrival of the different interactive works that we can see today, we will have to do it if we want to complete the story who want to narrate us in this curious way.
On Netflix we find a fairly complete list of interactive shows, sometimes crossing the line between the video game and the cinema. For some time we have been able to enjoy these types of stories, and in my case they have been of great help to squeeze the most out of my television.
What is an interactive movie?
An interactive series or movie makes the viewer part of the story, creating different narrative arcs depending on the decisions we make. Throughout the story that they tell us, we will have to choose a series of options that, generally, affect the end of the work.
on netflix we found a good handful of interactive series and movies, from contests and challenges, to animated movies or dramas. Under these lines we leave you with the complete list to date:
One of the most entertaining experiences I’ve had with Netflix was precisely with ‘Black Mirror: Bandersnatch’. This special episode of the acclaimed television series opened the ban on this type of workmaking the viewer take part in the events of the story.
The decision tree that we will have to make in this type of content we will select it through our remote control. And it is that a series of options will appear on the screen that we will have to choose to continue with the course of the story. Another of the series that makes the most use of this type of decision is ‘Surviving is the Challenge’, by the great Bear Grylls, where we will have to participate in making decisions so that this explorer does not end up in trouble.
Another quite striking example that created links with the gamer community is that of ‘Minecraft: Story Mode’. This interactive adventure It is based on the Telltale video game series. ‘Minecraft: Story Mode’, released years after the successful Mojang phenomenon. Here we are presented with a similar adventure, although controlled through the remote control of our television.
Compatible devices for interactive content
From Netflix they ensure that this type of content is compatible with most Smart TVs, multimedia players, consoles, and even mobile devices. However, there are some exceptions which is worth mentioning.
According to the company, this type of content not yet optimized for Apple TV, nor 1st to 3rd generation Chromecast (including Ultra). Nor will we be able to play this content if we do it through the Netlfix application on Windows tablets and computers (although we can from a browser that does not use Silverlight).
