Do you use Twitch? So you can upload videos for your followers

Streaming video platforms have experienced a boom in recent years among millions of users around the world. Although the forerunner of everything we could consider YouTube, it currently has a tough competitor on Twitch, especially from those who are passionate about video games. From it we can not only broadcast live content, but we can also upload our own videos.

If we are determined to upload our videos to the platform, today we are going to tell you how we can do them. First we will talk a little about Twitch, what it consists of and the basis of its success. We will also see how we can register and the requirements that we must meet in order to upload videos. Later we will look at the conditions that these videos must meet and how to upload them. In addition, we will talk about different software that will help us create and edit the videos before uploading them.

What is Twitch

We are talking about a live video streaming platform that was founded in 2011 and later acquired by Amazon in 2014. Through it, we can see almost anything, from cooking events, music or the broadcast of content video game relatedits main activity, and which serves to be a direct competitor with YouTube, with more than 15 million active users every day.

As we have mentioned, its main focus is the live content streaming, with video games being its main value. In this way, users can watch other people play, while at the same time interacting with other viewers or broadcasting their own game live. On this platform we can find transmissions of many different games with such popular titles as Fornite, League of Legends or Grand Theft Auto V, among the most watched.

This means that users can access new titles, get tips on how to play, interact with other players or follow other users that we admire. In the same way that we follow football or movie stars, on Twitch users follow their favorite players.

How to access

In order to have your own channel and upload videos to Twitch, we must register for free. Once we have accessed your web page, click on the button in the upper right corner where it says “Check in”. Subsequently, a new window appears where we must fill in our data such as username, password, date of birth and email to start using the service. Once this is done, click on the Register button that appears at the bottom of the window.

Requirements to be able to upload videos

Uploading videos to Twitch is not a function that any user can perform, but for this it will be necessary to be a Twitch affiliate or partner. This is something that we can achieve by fulfilling a series of requirements.

On the one hand, we must join their affiliate program for which our channel must previously have:

  • At least 500 total broadcast minutes during the last 30 days.
  • At least 7 unique days of issuance during the last 30 days.
  • An average of at least 3 concurrent viewers in the last 30 days.
  • At least 50 followers.

In the event that our channel can participate in the program, we will receive an invitation by email and through our notification area, which we find in the upper right part of the Twitch main page in order to become affiliates.

We can also upload videos if we belong to the partner program of Twitch that is aimed at those streamers who are committed to the platform and already have a minimum affiliate level. In order to be partners, we must meet some minimum requirements, which are:

  • Complete the “Become a Member” achievement or prove important that you have numerous viewers or followers on other services.
  • Make content that complies with the Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and DMCA Guidelines.
  • Users who earn the Become a Member achievement must consistently meet the above criteria.

In addition, we must bear in mind that the achievement Become a member only includes the criteria minima that the candidates must have, so obtaining them does not automatically guarantee that we will become a member.

Requirements that videos must meet

Before proceeding to upload our videos to Twitch, it is important that we know some limitations that it has, since it will not be possible to upload them in any format, not in any size, since it will be necessary to adapt to the requirements demanded by the platform.

Programs to create videos for Twitch

In order to obtain the best results when creating videos to later upload to Twitch or broadcast live, we can use different software that will help us with the work despite the fact that we do not have great knowledge on the matter.

OBS-Studio

We are talking about free and open source software with which we can record live video, so it will be of great help to us to record our games to later upload them to Twitch. All recordings can be carried out without time limit no watermarks. It also features an audio mixer, noise suppression filters, and an unlimited number of scene templates. All this makes it one of the best streaming software for Twitch.

As a drawback, during the recording we must take into account that it does not offer the possibility of pausing the transmission nor does it have an integrated editor to process the recorded video before uploading it. We can download OBS Studio from the developer’s website.

streamlabs

It is a tool for broadcast online which is perfectly suited to be used with Twitch. Likewise, this streaming software can be used to broadcast on other platforms such as Facebook or YouTube. It has a very clear interface that we can also customize with more than 1000 themes. Among its features, it includes various customization options for text to speech, alerts, designs and widgets.

It also has a built-in chat function that can be useful for us to chat directly from the application. It is a free application that we can download from the developer’s website.

Lightstream Studio

To be able to carry out broadcasts both live and deferred On Twitch or other platforms such as YouTube or Facebook, we can use an online application such as Lightstream Studio, which is characterized by running directly from our browser. With it we will be able to show what we are playing, without having to know how to control technicalities such as codecs or bitrates, while recording through our microphone and through our webcam.

It is possible to customize our background with templates, share the screen with other users and add elements to the recordings such as images or logos. Its main drawback is that it is not free, so you will have to contract an annual or monthly subscription to be able to use it. If we want to test it previously, we can access a 7-day trial version with access to all its functions.
