War in Ukraine: Epic Games will donate part of Fortnite’s revenues

Following the tragic events related to the war in Ukraine which broke out a few weeks ago after the invasion of Russia, many companies, in their own small way, are trying to give their support to those who fled the Ukrainian territory and among them Epic Games recently joined.

The company, through its official page, has in fact revealed that for the next two weeks, starting today, will donate all the proceeds they receive through Fortnite. Xbox, as stated in the official press release that you can see below, will join the cause in turn donating the net revenues it will receive from Epic Games’ battle royale.

Epic is committed to donating Fortnite’s total revenues from March 20, 2022 to April 3, 2022 to humanitarian relief for the war-affected population in Ukraine. Xbox will join us and donate its net revenues to Fortnite during this period. In this way, we will be able to help the Ukrainian population even more.

Below is a list of the humanitarian organizations we support. They are stationed on site and provide emergency aid such as health support, food and clean water, essential supplies, shelter and legal assistance. We will be adding more organizations to this list in the coming weeks.

As specified by the official press release, which we invite you to read in its entirety on the official Epic website, in addition to the revenues received through purchases on the shop of Fortnite“physical store purchases of in-game cosmetic items and V-Bucks cards will also be included, as long as these items are redeemed in-game during the aforementioned time window“. However, the use of V-Bucks will not be includedas these are not real money purchases.

Epic Games joins a long list of companies that, in one way or another, they are supporting Ukraine. Steam had stated that it would donate one large donation to charity to support the war victims, while Ubisoft is providing its Ukrainian staff alternative accommodation, additional funds to facilitate travel and relocation, and advance salary payments.
