Omega Rugal announced as free DLC for The King of Fighters 15



The King of Fighters 15 got its first pack of DLC along with Team Garu a few days back, but it looks like fans had another big surprise in store.

During tonight’s Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable, SNK announced that Omega Rugal will be coming to KOF 15 next month as a free DLC character.

SNK’s arguably most infamous boss character KOF finally returns after decades away from the scene, and will be available to all players starting April 14, 2022.

On top of the big bad that everyone has been asking for, SNK is also releasing a special Boss Challenge mode featuring an even more powerful version of Omega Rugal that the developers promise will offer the “from hell” experience fans have come to expect.

For those who manage to pass the bonus challenge, players will unlock a new weird plateau stage as well as a special Omega Armor costume for Rugal in the mod and a new version of Track Conclusion R&D.



Influenced by some of Orochi’s power, Omega Rugal still clearly has a lot to offer, including his iconic and insane carnage cutter, projectiles, wall-to-wall grabs, super speed, and an eye laser super.

Following his defeat in the original title, Omega Rugal first appeared as the final boss of King of Fighters ’95, where he was defeated once and for all… except now he is back and sure. Apparently itching for a fight.

An even more powerful version of Mr. Bernstein was also featured in the dream matches of KOF’98 and KOF2002, where he became infamous for being so corrupt that he was banned from some/many arcades.

So it will be very interesting to see how Omega Rugal is balanced this time around for normal play in KOF15.
