The next step in the research will be to study the intelligence of this type of plant that populates the nature reserve and that has already been dubbed ‘ecosystem engineers’. Getzin concludes:

Plants act like beavers, being ecosystem engineers, because the only way to survive is to form optimal and strictly geometric patterns.
