Either you go back to Netflix, or you will get SPAM mail

Netflix is not exactly at its best. Although years ago the company spoke freely of share account with friends and family, times and ideals have changed, and now a crusade has begun against all those who share an account outside of the main address. As expected, users have begun to unsubscribe en masse, leaving the company in a somewhat difficult situation. And that has led the streaming platform to try to recover some of the canceled subscriptions.

Although Netflix already warned of the end of the shared accounts a couple of weeks ago, and has given enough time for all those who want to continue sharing the account to pay for a subscription pass, it was not until yesterday when, finally, this was has come true. If we used shared accounts in Spain, and yesterday we tried to see it from outside our main home, we will have realized that it is impossible. Netflix has fulfilled its threat and has ended, in the bud, with accounts shared between friends or family who do not live together.

Sharing account Netflix Error

But this does not end here. A large number of users have unsubscribed from the company, since 18 euros a month, plus an extra 6 euros for each friend, makes it unfeasible for the vast majority. And the company’s new strategy to try to recover these users is that of SPAM.

Mass emails to get users to resubscribe

Some users who have unsubscribed from Netflix as soon as they learned of the end of the shared accounts have begun to receive emails, at a rate of two a day, to try to get them to resubscribe to the platform. In these emails, the company tries to give us three good reasons to re-subscribe to the platform. Reasons that, by the way, leave a little to be desired:

  • Personalized suggestions of series and movies based on our tastes.
  • They have saved our favorites and activity history to pick up where we left off.
  • Possibility of downloading the content we want to see it offline.

netflix mail back

When we were subscribed to the company, the only times he has written an email has been every time the price has been raised or some other feature has been added. But now it seems that the company is going to start a new campaign to try to recover some of the casualties that have taken place these days.

The mail that we show has reached a user, who precisely unsubscribed as a result of the change in the shared accounts, twice throughout yesterday. And this means that, from now on, emails to former platform users are only going to grow.

If we want to prevent our inbox from filling up with emails from Netflix, the best thing we can do is create a custom rule delete these messages directly when we receive them. Or, better yet, put Netflix on the spam list so that the messages are deleted directly.
