There is a big difference between a handle and a profile name. The handle is the one you sign into Twitter with and the unique name in your Twitter profile URL.

Profile name on the other hand is what you put on your profile, and it can be completely different from your handle.

Twitter does not currently release inactive or suspended Twitter handles to other people. So, if your desired Twitter handle is missing, try adding numbers or underscores to it to create a unique version instead.

The action of changing your Twitter handle will not result in the removal of any followers or tweets. The whole name change process is seamless, so your followers won’t even know.
