With the Google Pixel you can now take selfies with the palm of your hand

From time to time, Google releases updates called Feature Drops that aim to improve the functions of the Google Pixel. Recently, Google has released a new feature for Pixel 6 phones and later models, which allows you to take selfies easily and with a timer. This function consists of raising the palm of the hand towards the front camera, which activates the timer to capture the photo in an interval of 3 to 10 seconds.

Unfortunately, older Pixel series devices such as the Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 will not receive this update, leaving this exclusive tool. for users of the latest models. However, this is a feature that has been seen on other smartphones, and Google has now incorporated it into its devices. For some time now, Samsung mobile users have had this feature available.

The Google Pixel already allow you to take selfies with the palm of your hand

The news of this new function was posted by Google in a tweet. Here he shows off the new feature for the Pixel 6 and newer devices, highlighting that this new feature makes group photos simpler.

To use this feature, you must first access camera settings and enable the timer. Be sure to set the timer to the desired time, for example 5 seconds. To continue, you need to place the device on a stable surface.

Step away from your phone and when you’re ready to take the photo, raise your hand with your palm facing the device and fingers extended. The timer will activate and the photo will be captured automatically.

Google Pixel brings a new update and it is now available

The addition of this feature to Google Pixel smartphones could be related to the launch of its first foldable device, the Pixel Fold. Like the Galaxy Z Fold, the Pixel Fold can also be unfolded to take selfies without the need for a tripod, and this new feature makes that task even easier.

After being tested in beta versions of Android 13, this feature is now available in a stable version and works as expected. The expectation is that it will be ready to be used in the Pixel 8 series in the near future.

If you own one of the compatible Google Pixels and you still don’t have access to it, don’t worry, as the implementation is being done gradually.
