Ubisoft announces Project Q, a ‘team battle arena’ game that isn’t a battle royale



Update (4/23/22) – Ubisoft has also confirmed that It has no plans to add NFTs to Project Q.

After various leaks, Ubisoft officially announced Project Q, a “team battle arena that lets players truly own the experience” that isn’t battle royale.

Ubisoft announced the news Twitter, Stating that “the game is in early development and we will keep testing, so for now you can just register for upcoming tests.” Along with sharing the first concept art for the game, Ubisoft stated that it is not a battle royale and will instead offer “a variety of PvP modes with a single goal in mind: FUN!”

The image shows four characters that could be Central Park in New York City. While this is only concept art, it gives a hint about some of his abilities. The character on the left is using a type of handheld rocket and appears to have dynamite on it.

Another character has a lightning bolt in his hair and yellow outfit, teasing that he might have lightning abilities or be very fast. There is also an old character holding a shovel that has the ability to fly or glide. Finally, a character with glasses is standing on the bridge taking everything in.



As reported by VGC, Project Q’s leaked gameplay started leaking online after Ubisoft invited players to test-drive the new game. It looks very similar to Fortnite but, as Ubisoft says, it’s not a battle royale.

Every Ubisoft game in development

Battle Royale is said to have two game modes called Showdown and a Control-style mode called Battle Zone, but Ubisoft’s statements could imply that Showdown is a different type of mode. The game also states that it has heroes with unique weapons, abilities and skills, and something called “amazing”.

The weapons are said to differ from your traditional offerings and include “a deck of cards, fireworks, hammers, sticks and pentagons”.

Project Q is another game that was part of a GeForce Now database leak that also included a PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake and a remaster of Chrono Cross, God of War.
