As we have already anticipated, we are going to explain how to create a GIF from a YouTube video in Giphy. To get started, you will need to go to the video you want to convert to a GIF and copy the URL of itthe one that appears in the address bar, in order to start the process.

When you do that, go to the Giphy website, we have left the link above, and hit the Create button located at the top right of the screen. This step will take you to the menu where you must choose what you want to do (GIF, Sticker or Backdrop). Although, in this case, what interests you is the text box that belongs to the Any URL section.

In this section, you will have to paste the YouTube video address. Once set, the web will automatically read the address and take you to the place where you will have to edit your own GIF. Of course, keep in mind that the videos you use must be less than 15 minutes of duration.
Now, already in the place where the GIF itself is created, you will see the video on the left side of the screen and on the right side two bars, which will help you to adjust what will be seen and for how long in your GIF. The top bar is used to decide how long it will lasthaving a maximum of 15 seconds, and the second will allow you to choose the minute and second from which it will start your GIF.

Keep in mind that the longer the GIF is, the heavier it will be and the longer it will take to load when you share it. Having said all this, and when you already have your GIF defined, press the Continue to Decorate button. From there, you can now go on to add some element that adorns your creation.

Of course, you can add text, put a sticker, filters and drawings to finish finishing off your creation. With this finished, you will only have to press Continue to Upload. This step will take you to what will be the last process to follow to have your own GIF ready.
