Google Pixel Watch leaks into real-life images after being abandoned at a restaurant [Gallery]

After being first finalized earlier this week, real-life images of the Google Pixel Watch have leaked today.

These actual photos – taken on top of a Galaxy Tab S7 or S8 – were sent to Android Central by someone who found what looks like a Pixel Watch prototype, “apparently abandoned and found at a restaurant in the US” It’s remarkably reminiscent of a time when a once-in-a-lifetime iPhone 4 prototype was lost and shared by Gizmodo. This happened 12 years and 4 days ago (in a sign that time is a cycle.) There was also a time when a Pixel 3 XL was left behind a car (Lyft).

The images show a very sleek Pixel Watch – when viewed head-on – which accompanies previous leaks. The display is curved at the very edge, though you can still see the metal facing down in one of the angled shots. There is only one image of the wearable and it is a white ‘G’ boot screen against a black background. As such, we can’t see the full extent of the display and how thick the bezel is.

The new Pixel Watch, with a trademark yesterday confirming the name, includes details from the leaked images of how there is a pill-shaped button above the crown. This configuration aligns perfectly with the UI mockup of Wear OS 3 at Google I/O 2021. You should be able to double-press that top button to quickly switch to your last used app.

It rests flush against the case and is barely visible when looking at an otherwise wearable straight-on. Underneath the silver crown, which is actually shaped like a bottom cap, is a hole for a microphone or altimeter (for stair count tracking).

The very bulbous rear is defined by a bullet with four square cutouts lined up horizontally. They are probably for the heart rate sensor and other health functionality. ECG (electrocardiogram) capability is suggested in two halves, zooming out.

We get a pretty good look at the watch band mechanism, which appears to be proprietary in nature to make up for fast strap switching. In Fitbit parlance, it’s an “infinity band” with a loop and peg design.

At the top should be a diagnostic port which is similar in nature to the Apple Watch. It may only exist on prototype hardware, and will not be user-facing/accessible in any case.
