Aqara updates its motion sensor with greater autonomy and sensitivity

Aqara continues to improve its extensive catalog of HomeKit-compatible home automation products, and has just improved its P1 motion sensor with an autonomy of up to 5 years and sensitivity improvements.

Motion sensors are very useful devices in home automation. They can be used for countless purposes, from motion detection to turning lights on or off, to including them in an alarm system. This new P1 is the new version of the classic (and equally recommended) motion detector that we already tested when we talked about cHow to create a home alarm system with Aqara devices. The novelties that it includes are not critical enough to consider changing the current detectors, but if you plan to acquire some more, you may be interested in the novelties of this new version.

The new sensor includes an autonomy of up to 5 years, during which time you can forget about changing the battery of this tiny accessory. The battery change on the other hand is very simple since it uses the classic button batteries. In addition to this longer battery life improvements in motion detection are included, being able to regulate the sensitivity and the waiting time between one detection and another. In this way we can adjust the motion detection to the area in which the sensor is located. A detection in a corridor is not the same as in a more open area.

The P1 motion detector is HomeKit compatible, like most Aqara accessories, although a Hub is required to connect to. This function can be performed by Hubs specially dedicated for this function, or by Aqara cameras. In the video about the alarm system you can see two examples of Hub for HomeKit. Aqara accessories are extremely reliable in their operation and have highly competitive prices., being an excellent option for those who want to dogmatize their house with HomeKit. The new P1 sensor will be available shortly on Amazon Spain.
