Hackers are constantly on the lookout for new ways to infiltrate our devices and steal the vast treasure trove of data we have.
With so many of us now dependent on smartphones, it’s no wonder they are such a big target.
We’ve seen it all, from vicious WhatsApp cons to dodgy apps that aren’t what they seem.
Unfortunately, many people are oblivious to the fact that there is even a hack running in the background.
But thankfully, there are telltale signs to watch out for.
While they aren’t always certain, if you think something isn’t quite right about your iPhone or Android device, they may well be clues to look for.
1. Sluggish Smartphone Performance
If apps are taking longer than expected to load, it could mean that you have been hacked.
The same happens if the app crashes randomly as well.
2. Battery draining quickly
Smartphone battery drains rapidly over time.
But if it is happening suddenly, it could point to malware.
That’s because malware is secretly moving away in the background, sucking up more power to go about its malicious purpose.

3. Data being used
If you have noticed that your data is being consumed very quickly, then this can also be a sign.
Similar to a battery, malware can send stuff to the background.
4. Change in Bill
If you have an unexplained bill change, that’s a red flag.
This could mean that more data is being used by the malware and you are paying a price for it.
5. Pop-ups
Pop-ups are fairly standard on web browsers.
But when they start appearing at various points a lot more frequently, it could mean that you have been infected with some kind of dodgy adware.

6. overheating
A smartphone that overheats could mean that it is getting old or is exposed to too much sun.
But it can also be a sign that some malware is at work.
What to do if you suspect your phone is being hacked
If you think your smartphone has been infected with a virus, malware or any other sketch, the first thing to do is download a reliable antivirus app and run the scan.
Here’s a complete list worth considering.
You should download any app you think may be behind it.
If the problem persists, the last resort might be to factory reset your phone – but back up precious files like photos that you know to keep safe first.
