Internet Shield of Ukraine: Google teeth-nails prevent the state from cyberattacks!

The war in Eastern Europe, which was officially wiped out by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, is also taking place on the Internet to a large extent. Google security analysts warn that there has been a significant increase in cyber attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure since the beginning of the conflict. Fortunately, the technology giant is not just keeping words, but also doing something about this situation.

According to Google, the attacks come from state-sponsored hackers not only from Russia, but also from Iran, North Korea and China, writes Android Police. It responded promptly to their increased frequency by strengthening its infrastructure in order to maximize the protection of its customers, including seniors.

At the end of last month, the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued a warning concerning the growing number of more types of cyber attacks from state-funded hacking groups such as Berserk Bear, Cozy Bear, Fancy Bear and others.

Although the announcement of a new wave of attacks on Ukraine has only been officially published, competent Google defenders have been on the lookout for several months. The giant pays full attention to the situation and tries to do as much as possible to prevent the success of even one cyber attack.

The attacks are not slowing down, nor is Google

As mentioned above, attacks come in a variety of forms. In some cases, this is phishing targeted to Google Drive cloud storage, while in other cases it is site spoofing or attacks trying to steal cookies and stored passwords in browsers (including Google Chrome). In many cases, high-ranking Ukrainian people and organizations should also be victims.

Google claims that it has identified the websites and domains used in these attacks and added them to the Safe Browsing list, thus reducing the likelihood of harming careless or ignorant users.

Those who are actively using Gmail and Workspace and who have been the target of a cyber attack should be alerted by Google and then urged to increase their security in simple steps – for example, by turning on Enhanced Safe Browsing or installing the latest updates.

Keep up the good work!

Google does a really great job of security. He boasted that some attacks, such as the recent Ghostwriter phishing campaign, did not compromise a single Google Account.

However, the war is still not over, and therefore the activity of pro-Russian hackers. Security will thus need to be maintained. We hope that Google will maintain its excellent success in the future.
