Nokia and Karel Start Production of 4.5G and 5G Base Stations in Turkey

Nokia and Karel signed a contract in the first quarter of 2022 to establish joint production in Turkey. And already in May, the first locally produced radio modules are ready to be shipped to customers in Turkey. Together with Nokia Karel, over the past few months, he has completed an enormous project to create the highest quality manufacturing process. Karel engineers were given 5400 hours of training and knowledge and experience at the Nokia Finland Factory in Oulu and locally at the Karel Factory. High production standards and advanced technology machines were ensured. In addition, 80 new jobs were created at the Karel factory to support production. With this partnership, which has now turned into a real production phase, Nokia reaffirms its commitment to the Turkish market and Turkish customers.

Official delegations of local service providers, representatives from ministries and government, as well as representatives from the Finnish Embassy attended the opening ceremony.

Özgür Erzincan, Senior Country Officer for Nokia Turkey, We have started the production of our best-in-class 4.5G mobile base station technology, which also supports 5G, as a “domestic product” in Ankara, within the framework of our cooperation with Karel, in order to respond to the needs of our customers, by realizing one of the important steps of the “Being an Example for Turkey” strategy. This will be a first step that demonstrates the importance Nokia attaches to Turkey, and we will continue to create value in Turkey in other areas as well.” said.

Karel Chairman of the Board Sinan Tunaoğlu, “As Karel, we gain momentum by collaborating with global companies specialized in technology in line with our long-term sustainability development goals. Today, we are happy to join forces with Nokia, an important global brand with both its high-tech products and solutions and its goals. We are also proud that 4.5G and 5G base stations, which we started to produce in cooperation with Karel Nokia, will be used in our country’s infrastructure. We are excited about the significant benefits it will provide to our country at home and abroad as this cooperation continues to develop in the coming periods.”
