Sam Raimi in talks as director for a Star Wars movie?

Sam Raimi has recently returned to the big screen with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessthe latest big hit from Marvel Studios, and may have opened for him the doors of Star Wars.

Raimi is undoubtedly one of the most highly regarded directors on the scene, as he contributed to create the modern horror genre, and has now given massive power to the Marvel Cinematic Universe film that wowed audiences during the month of May. Now that his horror touch has mingled with Doctor Strange, it seems Disney has decided to keep the talented director under his wing.

Some indiscretions, in fact, would speak of negotiations that would see Sam Raimi as papabile director in a film of the saga from Star Wars. Both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and George Lucas’ son are now two fruitful brands for Disney (under Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm respectively), so a success in one of the two could be a guarantee of success for the other as well. A film directed by Raimi that rides the wave of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would follow the same pattern as Jon Favreauwho started successfully in the MCU and then moved on to lead the The Mandalorian.

Star Wars could receive as a gift from Sam Raimi the same horror touch which was introduced, and much appreciated, in the Marvel universe. This allowed fans to enjoy a whole new atmosphere, after some criticism regarding the fact that the MCU churned out products that were too similar to each other. Raimi’s direction was widely praised for reshuffling the cards on the table, although critics have been conflicting in their judgment Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The rumors that are spreading about the director’s involvement in a Star Wars movie they are not official, therefore this information must be taken with due caution. The possibilities are, however, quite wide and such a work would push many viewers into movie theaters.
