Apple surpasses itself with the WWDC easter egg: collectible cards in augmented reality

Apple has created the best Easter egg for this WWDC22 in which we will see iOS 16 and many interesting new features.

It is usual that with each new Apple event the company hides a small easter egg or easter egg on its website, which normally takes advantage of augmented reality, but on this occasion they have surpassed themselves. On the occasion of the WWDC22 that takes place next Monday, and in which iOS 16 and much more will be presented, Apple has hidden a surprise in the form of letters collectibles.

Augmented reality allows us to see virtual objects in the real world, and Apple normally took advantage of this easter egg to show us an interactive invitation to the event. But this time we have cards with Memojis, up to 9 totalalthough in each pack you will only get 3 cards.

How to get the WWDC22 cards

This is the first time for a WWDC, or any other event, that Apple has created a package of trading cards you can see in augmented reality. Once the pack is placed on a surface using augmented reality, you can tap on the pack of cards to open it and find three colorful cards with different Memoji.

By touching one of the available cards, it flips over so you can see the Memoji character in more detail. If you touch it again you will be able to see all the cards again and choose the other options. Every time you open a pack of cards, you will get three different cards and there are at least nine different options. To get them just follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Apple Events website from Safari on an iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on one of the Memoji that appear in the WWDC22 event slideshow.
  3. The iPhone or iPad camera will open.
  4. Focus on a flat place, like a table.
  5. An envelope will appear over that location, tap to open it.
  6. You will be able to see the 3 Apple cards that have been dealt to you.
  7. If you exit and reload the Apple event page, you will be able to get another 3 different cards.
