Candy Crush más importante que Call of Duty. Phil Spencer sobre el poder de las producciones móviles


Comprar Activision Blizzard es muy beneficioso para Microsoft en muchos sentidos. Además de marcas tan sólidas como Call of Duty, Overwatch, Diablo o World of Warcraft, los estadounidenses buscarían juegos móviles bajo las alas de King, que son una fuente de enormes ingresos año tras año.

El análisis de la adquisición valorada en casi $ 69 mil millones de Activision Blizzard aún está en curso. Actualmente, la Comisión Europea y la CMA han iniciado investigaciones más detalladas para determinar si la compra del gigante de Redmond tendrá un impacto negativo en el resto de la industria del juego. Además de trabajar con las autoridades, Xbox también se involucra en los medios, donde Phil Spencer plantea muchos temas importantes y asegura que Call of Duty estará disponible en las consolas PlayStation.

En la última entrevista con The Verge, el jefe de Xbox reveló que la adquisición de la compañía tiene como objetivo no solo adquirir toda la base de IP popular en consolas y computadoras personales: La compra permitirá a Microsoft dar un paso significativo en la división de juegos móviles, donde Candy Crush ya tiene una posición sólida.

“En cuanto a la oportunidad de Activision, lo digo una y otra vez y es verdad, definitivamente comienza con la idea de que la gente quiere jugar en todos los dispositivos que tienen. De una manera divertida, la pantalla más pequeña en la que jugamos es en realidad la pantalla más grande cuando piensas en la base de instalación de tu teléfono”, comenzó el argumento.

El estadounidense enfatizó que el fabricante ya no puede ignorar el mercado de producción móvil extremadamente rentable, porque “Es simplemente un espacio donde, si no ganamos protagonismo como marca de juegos, el negocio se volverá imposible con el tiempo”. Durante muchos años, los informes financieros de Activision Blizzard han revelado cuán gran fuente de ingresos son los artículos gratuitos que King tiene bajo sus alas. Candy Crush es igualmente valioso para Microsoft, que quiere seguir las necesidades de los jugadores.

“Nuestro objetivo es estar donde están los jugadores, especialmente con franquicias del tamaño de Minecraft y Call of Duty. Creo que nuestra historia de Minecraft, que se acerca a los ocho o nueve años, muestra en la práctica cómo apoyaremos a nuestros clientes. Eso es lo que quiero hacer con Call of Duty”, aseguró una vez más el CEO de Xbox.

Recordemos, sin embargo, que la cartera de Activision Blizzard también incluye títulos como Call of Duty Mobile o Diablo Immortal.
