We keep discovering tons of new things in Android 13 Developer Preview 2, and the latest will be a boon for those who need to rely on accessibility services to use their devices. The magnifying tool has finally got a “follow typing” option that automatically follows text to the magnifying area as you type.

The new option, spotted by Arizona’s Mishaal Rahman, sits in System Settings Accessibility > Magnification, where it appears as a new entry that was not previously present under Android 12 or earlier Android 13 previews. This is about as self-explanatory as it can get, and you can see it in action in the tweet embedded above. The magnification area automatically adjusts as you type, helping you see what you’re doing, without ever needing to lift your fingers to move the area manually Is.

The movements look weird at the moment, but that may just be because this is the first implementation of the feature, part of the developer preview. Google could very well improve this before Android 13 is stable.

If you’re interested in trying this and other new features yourself, we have a guide on how to install Android 13 DP2 yourself. Just keep in mind that like any pre-release software, you can run into serious problems, so it’s best not to install it on your phone unless you have a spare device with stable software.
