How To Boot Android 12L On Your x86 PC, Now It’s Possible!

The third-party Android community is just awesome. Because of Android’s Linux open-source-based structure, the community of custom ROM developers has been gleaning for years. Most Android OEMs still offer just two Android upgrades for each device. This is changing but is still far from becoming a major trend. However, the custom ROMs community has always flourished and supported multiple smartphones for many years after the end of the update cycle. In the same way, the custom community is home to advanced ideas and unusual ports. One of the biggest mods available is the unofficial x86 Android port for PC. There have been ROMs for x86 PCs for years, but it’s always interesting to see new ones come out. Now, the talented developers behind Bliss OS have successfully ported Android 12L or Android 12.1 to the x86 architecture.

For those unaware, Android 12L was released for Android 12 with fixes, improvements, and tweaks for oversized devices and foldable smartphones.

Bliss OS team brings Android 12L to x86 PCs

The Android 12L project has just achieved a new milestone. The first beta release is available to allow people to run the latest Android version on virtual machines or even as a full OS. Previously, the company released two alpha builds with Android 12, now it’s time to move on to the next big thing. Today, John West, a recognized contributor at XDA-Developers, revealed the first shots of Android 12L on a PC. Although it is a work-in-progress, the developers believe the Android-x86 release is mature enough. So, curious users with certain experiences can try out the first beta on their PC. You can watch a video below:

Google is improving the experience on larger devices and it seems that Android for PC is improving with Android 13. The developers also worked to make it a great experience on PC. For example, the Android 12L build for x86 PCs brings a good amount of drivers and UI enhancements. The project has always stuck to an interface closer to the stock release. However, the team behind Bliss OS includes a desktop mode launcher as an option for those who want a better experience.

One thing to note is that the developers have built the ISO with the UEFI environment in mind. However, advanced users can easily play with the GRUB parameters to install Android 12L build on legacy mode. One thing to note is that the build already comes natively with Google Mobile Apps. So, ISO is basically ready for installation and use.
