Make WhatsApp calls in less time and with just a couple of taps: this is its new functionality in beta

Almost every week we are discovering whatsapp news. Either as general public features like the proxy connection that was added at the beginning of January or in betas with recent features like character expansion for group descriptions or the redesign of the text editor for statuses.

The latest discovery has to do with the possibility of create call shortcuts in the app. Something like the shortcuts to open a chat that have been around for years. A small novelty, but together they continue to add up to make what is still one of the most popular messaging apps in the world more complete.

Create shortcuts now also for calls

For many social networks and messaging applications that exist, the ‘lifelong’ calls they remain an indispensable feature in phones. Thus, Internet calls in applications such as WhatsApp are gaining more and more prominence. See if not the recent bets of the platform to improve them with access links or with the possibility of integrating up to 32 participants.

In WABetaInfo they have now discovered a new functionality in the beta of the app. Specifically, in version 2.23.4.15 of Google Play. In it is the possibility of add a shortcut to call a contact on the home screen certain. Like the existing ones for chats, but speeding up the touches and making the calls direct without having to press anything else.

To add this shortcut you only have to go to the contact list. Once there, it will be enough to press and hold the contact in question to display the list of available options, including that option to create a quick access. Then we can place that shortcut where we want, always within our home screens, of course.

Now we will have to wait to see this novelty arriving officially. As with every feature that is discovered in betas, it does not have to have an immediate release. In fact, it could take several weeks and even months before it reaches the public. However, being something so simple in the end, it is likely that it will not take too long.
