The site, an invaluable asset that is everything from a property forum to a community forum to a wiki, has anyone who has played the game to give it a rating. You’d think, with the site being over 20 years old, there would have been dozens, or even hundreds Among the games to top BGG’s ratings charts. But no one! gloomhaven, the biggest board game of the last decade, had been #1 since December 2017, but was finally dethroned this month, ending its five-year reign. And not from any new game either; was instead overhauled by Brass: Birmingham, a game that was first released in 2018. While I never got around to reviewing the game on the site, I played it a bit in 2019 and thought it was great! No best ever good, but then, that’s why review Aggregation is a tricky business.

I don’t fall into that bucket, so I’m unlikely to ever play the game, which means I’ll never add my (likely low) rating to the game page. You can only get a “proper” rating for a game if you’ve forced everyone in the world to play it and rate it – and rating coercion probably isn’t a reliable measure either, so let’s not go there. .
Rankings and ratings have meaning only as long as your choices match those of others. Don’t assume that all high-ranked games are recommended for you, and avoid the low-rated game that seems like a perfect match for your tastes. you do, boo
