Elon Musk’s latest antics: change the Twitter logo to Dogecoin’s

If you enter Twitter during these hours, you will come across a quite obvious modification: the social network has abandoned its traditional blue bird logo to adopt Dogecoin’s. The change does not seem to have much more explanation than being the last trolling of Elon Musk and his fetish with cryptocurrency-meme.

The Dogecoin logo now appears instead of the icon of the social network in the upper left corner of the screen, on the web version menu. As well as in the center of the screen when you first load the page or refresh it. As of this writing, Elon Musk has not provided an explanation for the change, nor is it known if he plans to do so.

It is known that the tycoon is a friend of Billy Markus, the creator of Dogecoin, and in recent years he has not missed the opportunity to promote the cryptocurrency or make jokes with it. If even she was one of the great protagonists during her appearance as the host of Saturday night Live in 2021.

However, the change in the Twitter logo could be more than just an Elon Musk quip trying to be funny. In the last few hours Reuters reported that the businessman asked a New York judge to drop a claim that accuses him of driving a pyramid scheme with Dogecoin.

It came to light in the middle of last year and not only targeted the tycoon, but also Tesla and SpaceX. The plaintiff, a subject identified as Keith Johnson, claimed to have been “swindled out of money” after investing in Dogecoin. But the most spectacular thing was that he asked for compensation of 258,000 million dollars.

Elon Musk’s lawyers called the lawsuit “a fanciful work of fiction” based on “innocuous and often silly tweets”. But they did not stop there. There is nothing illegal about tweeting supportive words or funny images about a legitimate cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of almost $10 billion. This court must put an end to the plaintiffs’ fantasy and dismiss the lawsuit,” they said.

If one thing hasn’t changed, it’s that everything Elon Musk does with Dogecoin sends the meme-currency price skyrocketing. This time has not been the exception. In the minutes after he changed the Twitter logo to $DOGE, the price of the crypto asset skyrocketed.

At the time of writing this article, is trading at $0.097 and is up more than 20% in the last hour. Prior to the modification in the social network, the value of Dogecoin was stabilized at $0.077.

For now, It’s a mystery how long the Dogecoin logo will last on the front page of Twitter. But the truth is that the change has not gone unnoticed. It remains to be seen if Elon Musk makes any comments in this regard, although we do not expect too deep an analysis from him either.

After all, this is the same guy who recently ordered the social network’s press email deliver a poop emoji as an autoresponder. What does it matter if Twitter is chaos today as long as everything is laughter and fun for its owner, right?
