How to remove the Mi browser on my Xiaomi mobile in 2022

Every Xiaomi mobile comes with the Mi browser installed from the factory. Being the browser made by the manufacturer itself for its phones, this is the one that is set as default on them. However, it’s not everyone’s favorite for Android, it’s worth noting, so many -and this may include you- prefer to use another browser. That is why they seek to remove it, something that, as such, cannot be done from the settings, although yes it is possible to change it and make another browser that has been previously installed on the mobile be the one that opens by default.

Being a system application, Xiaomi Mi Browser cannot be uninstalled through settings, as we say. It is also not possible to disable it, so removing the mobile browser is not something that can be done, at least not in a conventional way and without using a computer. Therefore, if you want to completely get rid of the damn Mi browser on your phone, you must have one and follow the steps below.

So you can remove and uninstall the Mi browser on your Xiaomi

Remove bloatware on XiaomiMIUIes ADB

To remove the Mi Browser from a Xiaomi, the system application must be deleted, something that can be done in various ways, but with external help from a computer. There are PC programs that can be used to remove bloatware; with these you can delete the mentioned browser. However, some are complex to use and require many steps.

Luckily, there is a web page that prevents the use of programs and has an interface that allows you to remove apps from the system such as the Mi browser on a Xiaomi. This is called MIUIes ADB, is easy to use and is in Spanish. Just follow the instructions below:

  1. First of all, enable developer options on your Xiaomi phone. To do this, go to Setting >> About of the phone. Once there, press several times and quickly the button MIUI Version until you get a message saying that you already have access to developer options. Then go back to Setting and go to Additional settings >> developer options and check the boxes “USB debugging”, Install by USB Y USB Debugging (Security Settings).
  2. Then, on a computer, access MIUIes ADB through this link. Preferably use the Chrome browser, as other browsers are not fully compatible with the web.
  3. Subsequently, connect the Xiaomi mobile to the computer via USB and select File transfer.
  4. Then, in the upper left corner of the MIUIes ADB website, click on add device and select the model that has been connected to the computer, and then click on the Connect.
  5. Immediately after hitting the button Connect, a notice will appear on the mobile; In this you have to activate USB debugging.
  6. The mobile will now be correctly connected to MIUIes ADB. At this point you have to enter the section of Uninstall bloatware, to then search, among all the system apps that appear there, the Mi Browser app, which corresponds to the Mi Browser. The app is selected and then you have to click on the trash can button that appears in the lower right corner of the website. In this way, the Mi browser will have been removed and uninstalled from the Xiaomi mobile, without further ado.

Make Mi browser not default

So you can make the Mi browser no longer the default on your Xiaomi

It is possible to stop using the Mi browser as the default browser. This can be achieved by simply accessing the Xiaomi phone settings in a matter of a few steps and quickly. In this way, you can choose any other browser of your choice, such as Google Chrome, Opera, Firefox or any other that is for Android.

If you make a browser other than Mi the default on your Xiaomi mobile, it will become the one that the system uses by default when opening any link. You just have to do the following:

  1. First of all, you must go to Setting. To do this, look for the gear icon on your home screen or app drawer and tap on it. You can also access Setting through the status/notification bar, just by opening it and clicking on the aforementioned icon that appears in the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. Then you must click on the box Applications.
  3. Subsequently, go into Manage apps.
  4. Once you are in the section Manage apps, you must click on the three-dot icon that appears in the upper right corner of the screen, and then click on Default apps.
  5. You will enter the section default apps, in which you will find all the applications that the system uses by default to open messages, camera, music, mail and more. What matters in this case is the Browser entry, in which the default Mi browser would be selected; in this you have to press.
  6. If you have one or more browsers installed on your Xiaomi mobile, you will find several options. If you have not installed any, you will not be able to choose between several and only the Mi browser will be selected. Thus, make sure you have the browser you want to use by default on your Xiaomi first, then tap on it to make it the default from now on.

If you want to change your default browser again, you can do it as many times as you want. You just have to follow the same steps.
