Spotify is finally bringing a great desktop feature to phones

Music fans have been calling on Spotify to bring the Friends Activity sidebar to mobile from the desktop version in what seems like a lifetime, and now it looks like they’re about to get their wish.

As of now, this feature, which allows you to see what your Spotify friends or Facebook contacts are currently streaming, is somewhat inexplicably not available on the Android or iOS mobile versions of the app.

But now it looks like the functionality is finally ready to be finally available to music lovers.

Interestingly, the test area can be accessed by anyone with an iOS device. If you want Mooch to be around you and have an iPhone or iPad, just type “spotify:community” into your Safari address bar.

Spotify’s rise wasn’t shaped in the way it did to match well with emerging social media platforms like Facebook at the time, which encouraged the sharing and editing of playlists.
