Microsoft Edge becomes gamer: add options to enjoy more xCloud and Free-to-play games

Microsoft’s web browser wants to be a browser for gamers. The new options in Microsoft Edge version 103 They allow us to access cloud gaming and even free games more easily and directly than ever before.

Microsoft’s bet is interesting: when opening a new tab we can access the ‘Gaming’ section from which news and access to simple games in Free-to-play format are displayed. And for those who play games in the cloud with Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud), comes Clarity Boost, which improves the visual quality of the experience.

In Edge, cloud games will look better

This new ‘Gaming’ section takes advantage of the Xbox user interface and presents news, game guides, live broadcaststournaments or new releases in this segment.

In addition, we can at any time access the “Games” menu. Doing so will open a side panel with a selection of arcade and free-to-play video games including ‘Microsoft Jewel’, ‘Mahjongg Dimensions’, ‘Deal or no Deal’, ‘Cubis’, ‘Battleship’ and ‘Surf Game’.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers who enjoy cloud gaming options also have some exciting news: the arrival of the Clarity Boost optionwhich had been available in previous versions of the browser, and which allows streaming games to be seen with more clarity and definition than in other browsers.

To activate this technology, simply log in in the Xbox account on the Xbox Cloud Gaming site and select the icon with the three ellipses (…) in the upper left corner of that section.

Microsoft also promises a new efficiency mode that allows us to reduce the consumption of resources when we run a game on our PC: the browser will go into a low power state and then we can access all its options when we close the game: having the browser open in the background will not impact (or not so much) the performance of the game we want to play.
