One UI 6 beta 3 fixes Galaxy Z Fold 5 bugs while other bugs persist

What you need to know

  • Samsung has started rolling out One UI 6 beta 3 specifically for eponymous Galaxy Z Fold 5 testers with some improvements for the device.
  • It appears that the home screen errors and navigational bar bugs have gone away with the latest update marked as version ZWJ8.
  • There are still several “known issues” with the One UI 6 software, one of which is related to the Fold 5’s camera speed.

Nearly two weeks after Samsung pushed its Android 14 beta to its latest book-style foldable, another app for enrolled testers has appeared.

One of our Galaxy Z Fold 5s has received a software update, bumping testers up to One UI 6 beta 3, marked version ZWJ8, The changelog is a bit minimal this time, as only three Fold 5-specific fixes are included with the patch.

Those improvements are as follows:

  • Fixed occasional home screen operation errors: background screen display error, icon display error, and task bar display error.
  • Fixed an issue where navigation bar gesture home key does not work.
  • Fixed an issue where F/C would sometimes occur during Smart Select Crop operations in the Landscape Mode Edge panel.

Some common problems are listed, and they include solutions to the blank screen that sometimes appears when accessing the Quick Panel. The second is in relation to overall SW stability.

As always, Samsung is drawing attention to some issues that it knows about but that haven’t been fixed in One UI 6 beta 3. One known issue is that the Fold 5’s Night 300x camera speed function is not working in Hyperlapse mode. Some other issues that are yet to be fixed are related to lock screen notifications, camera, One UI Home, and some SystemUI aspects.

After a delay, the Fold 5 received its first One UI 6 beta with quite a detailed changelog sheet to read. Samsung pushed the following beta a week later and again today with Beta 3.

Elsewhere, the company is busy bringing One UI 6 testing to some of its former flagship devices like the Fold 4, Galaxy S21, and Flip 4. Some budget phones from Korean OEMs are eligible for further OS improvements, which have started improving the OS. Also get One UI 6 trial.

If you haven’t enrolled in the program yet, you can do so through the Samsung Members app. For curiosity’s sake, it is not entirely clear when the company plans to introduce One UI 6 (Android 14) to all users across all its Galaxy devices. However, it is believed that this will happen sometime before the end of the year.
